Are your really conversing with people in your daily or weekly social media activities?

What kind of interactions are you conducting…message, text, video, commentary, sharing, re-tweeting, podcasting? Each is unique. Each should be tied to your goals and outcomes!

Frequently with beginners and experienced social media participants, we forget to KEEP THE CONVERSATIONS GOING! We forget why we are using social media…we forget we need to be conducting real-time conversations that can lead to informational, transactional, and engagement activities.

Are you just talking bubbles or are you conversing?

Here are a list of suggestions to determine if you are really talking and participating with people within the Social Web.

-Do you remember the names of people you talked to on Twitter or LinkedIn?

-On each of your social networking venues do you put time aside during your work week to comment or engage with prospects, friends or even family?

-Have you created an operational schedule of your social media activities? Are you tracking any outcomes from this schedule?    

-When was the last time you hash tagged or tagged a conversation for others to find through social bookmarking?                                                    

 -How many times do you re-tweet people or share another’s hyperlink with your friends or followers?                                                         

-Are you aware of the time of day of possible followers when releasing promotional material (dayparting)?                                               

 -When was the last time you took a picture from your mobile phone and shared it with your fellow social networkers? Did they comment? Do you remember what they like and continue to share photos at similar events?  

-When was the last time you laughed about a conversation?

-When was the last time you commented on another’s blog or answered questions on LinkedIn Answers?

-Can you name four of your competitors sitting on Facebook and LinkedIn?                                                                                                                            

 -At events you attend do you try to conduct real-time conversations or share information  with followers?

 -When asking people to join your social networks do you send them a personal message within the invitation?                                                        

-When was the last time you helped someone with a problem or issue asked in on-line environments?                                                                             

 -Do you use Facebook Notes to tag your fans or prospects over special product issues or updates? Do they answer back? Do you to continue to engage them with content of interest to them?                                                                                                                               

 -Do you attend off-line networking events then invite attendees to join your on-line social networks?

-Do you do any of the above activities? TRY THEM!
