03 Social Media Tip # 10....Your Competitors!

Your competitors!

A word that strikes fear into many businesses!

KNOW what your competitors are doing with their social media activities!

DETERMINE what your competitors goals are and have they accomplished them?

LISTEN to what they “say” and how they respond on social networking sites and various on-line communities.

DEFINE what tactics and strategy your competitor’s used in the social media. Are they using the social media with other marketing tactics?

DO NOT follow what your competitors do in the social media!

What do our competitors tell us on how to determine our social media activities? What types of social media activities should our business conduct?

Are your competitors social media activities targeting their customer’s interests or needs, or is it just generalized content with no demographic or psychographic reach. Are they just broadcasting messages, or are they interacting with their fans and customers?

Are your competitors conducting a social media campaign or are they conducting a social customer relations management campaign . These are two very different campaigns: one targets a group of present customers and prospects creating brand engagement, while one targets and creates personalized experiences and communication with both brand detractors, or brand evangelists driving transactional based results.

Do you see any holes in your competitor’s social media activities that you could use to your advantage?

Do not fear what your competitors are doing with their social media. Fear what types of competitive intelligence your business isn’t gaining by watching what they are not doing with their social media activities.

How do you use information from your competitors activities to better or integrate your social media operations!
